About Us

Our
Mission

So many of us have quietly wondered: Is this normal?

From periods to postpartum to menopause and beyond, we’ve been left guessing. That’s why we’re collecting real, lived experiences — to turn invisible questions into visible data. Data that reveals patterns, highlights gaps, and sparks change.

Because when enough women share, we get to define what's normal, together.

Why Nightingale

Our name is a nod to Florence Nightingale — the founder of modern nursing and a social reformer who saved lives in a time when women weren't always given permission to lead or speak up. She believed in data. She believed in care. And she believed that women’s voices could shape the future. We do too.

Today, we carry that legacy forward — using data and care to bring attention to the health experiences of women everywhere.

About Me

Hi, I’m Alicia — founder of Nightingale.

I started this project because I’ve lived through my own health experiences that left me confused, dismissed, or completely in the dark. As a young adult, I was told I was “frozen” because I didn’t have regular periods — with no real explanation. I spent the next ten years wondering if I’d have trouble getting pregnant when the time came.

I’ve since had three children, but had gestational diabetes in two of those pregnancies and got vague, one-size-fits-all advice. After each delivery, I also had postpartum hemorrhage. I've since wondered if it was tied to my chronic iron deficiency, and whether I could’ve prevented it if I’d made the connection sooner.

For me, what was missing wasn’t just attention. It was data. Real stories, from real women — the kind that helps you feel less alone and connects the dots across symptoms, life stages, and the everyday factors that too often get overlooked. My hope is to help someone else have more answers than I did.

Professionally, I have a Business degree in Management Information Systems and have spent the last 15 years in tech, building and launching world-class, data-driven products at Cisco, LinkedIn, and Airbnb. But this work is deeply personal.

I come from a long line of women who challenged the limits placed on them. One of my grandmothers was a radioactive chemist. She helped discover elements that are now part of every high school curriculum and became the first woman to serve on the board of the American Chemical Society. My other grandmother tragically lost her husband and raised three children on her own. She ran her own business and built a life from the ground up as a single mother.

The strength they passed down is what fuels the purpose behind everything I’m building today.

Now I’m a mom to a daughter, and I want her to grow up in a world where women’s health is taken seriously — where our experiences are seen, heard, and finally understood.

That’s why I built Nightingale. A space to ask better questions, gather better data, and make sure women’s voices lead the way.

This is just the beginning. I’m so glad you’re here.

Thank You

This work may have started with me, but it could never have happened alone.

To my husband — thank you for supporting me so fully in this pursuit and believing in my vision.

To my mom — thank you for your endless love and for helping take care of the kids so I could build something for their future.

And to the incredible network of friends and family who have cheered me on, offered wisdom, and held space for me along the way — I’m deeply grateful. Your support means everything.
